What do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?

The desktop I'm using has 512mb ram, 256mb graphics card, 3.4ghz pentium 4 processor and It runs great with windows xp just another 512ram wouldn't hurt but these new comptuers have like a mininum of 4 gigs, 512mb graphics cards and dual core processors so could I get a decent dell laptop from wal-mart one that would have a little trouble with vista and install windows xp on it?What do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?China Mart is cheaper online.

I would chose eBay or Amazon over ChinaMart EVERY single day of the week.

DV7T with ATI is a solid Winner, proven itself, but since ATI chips almost doubled in price (they are still worth it) for this year, Cheep HP went back to CHEEP Nvidia, so careful with those heating problems that take suck the long lifespan ability out of laptops, ATI is a solid winner with a 400% stock price increase for the year of 2009.

Intel4500MHD sucks lots of spermWhale...... but you have to admit, it eats little energy and its dirt cheep.

Chose P series CPU over i5 or i7 and T series unless you are going to do autoCAD, dont forget, the cpu has to have a P ULV or LV in front of the numbers and the complete opposite of what the SalesPerson tells you (most profitable)

Dont be fooled by Mac, their customer support and Warranty is one of the worst ever known to mankind.

Be wary of BestBuy return policy!, they are Internet Famous for being the worst with not only that but also Warranty meddling. What do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?
I bought the laptop that I'm typing on from a Sam's club, which is owned by Wal-Mart. It's a Dell and it works great! If you're a Wal-Mart employee, you can use your discount card (at Wal-Mart, not Sam's club) to make the purchase a bit cheaper. At my WaMa store (in South Carolina) they do sell the Windows XP, but it's probably very limited. I would actually try Ebay or Amazon before I set my heart on a Wal-Mart. I've worked with computers for 10 years now and I've noticed no real difference between a computer bought at a Wal-Mart and one bought at a computer store. One major pro is you get the Wal-Mart price for a Dell computer. My Dell Inspiron 1545 was on sale for around $400 and it came standard with Vista. I've had it for about a year and it's been fantastic. Hey, if you don't like it, return it!What do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?as to your question , as long as you have a good warranty on it you can buy dell and hp from anywhere, walmart has a 15-30 day return policy, if you don't like it or laptop issues return it to walmart, they don't give you a hard time or charge a 15% restocking fee {bestbuy} if it's still in new condition

most laptop nowdays have windows 7 on them walmart might have a few in stock with windows vista on it , go to http://www.walmart.com for a better selection it will take a couple of days to ship to you

at a low shipping fee,now you can dual boot windows vista and xp or format the hdd to run windows xp only, got to http://www.supportmicrosoft.com for info, don't let people talk bad about walmart pc's

cause bestbuy is worst at handling computer issues and returns, again return it to walmart,or get a extended warranty contact dell or hp if any issues,on your desktop you can upgrade your graphics card 512mb i would recommend if you have a good psu-power supply
Make sure you get the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and you will be fine. I would recommend using Windows 7 on it though instead of XP. XP is now old although still popular, windows 7 is a refined version of Vista, faster and smaller. Definiatly a big step on from XP and Hardware manufacturers will soon stop providing drivers for XP so you need to think about that.

Hope that helps.

GrahamWhat do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?Buying a name brand PC from Walmart, like Dell or HP, is fine. They are covered under the manufacturer warranty and support. I doubt you'll find Vista on them though. They probably have Windows 7 now, which is really what you want if your upgrading. Be sure to know what Walmart's policy is on PC returns (it may be different than their standard policy).

Don't assume that Walmarts price is the best price. Many times it's not for PCs. Shop around. Check the online stores. Check Dell's website, they sell all their PCs direct. You might be able to get a better deal. What do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?
Dells are not quality computers what so ever. HPs are not bad, so if you aren't looking to spend a lot and get a decent computer I would go that route. If you are looking for top quality computers and aren't on a budget, Macintosh all the way.
in a sense yes you could, but most computers nowadays come with windows 7 on them, so it should be faster than vista anyway. 4gigs should be plenty for vista all the same, compared to your current setup i think you would only be moving forwardWhat do you think about buying a laptop from wal-mart since they carry dell and hp?
no.

1. they only sell windows 7 now.

2. its not easy for an amature to convert win 7 or vista to XP.
Newest units all have windows 7 which has replaced Vista. It is an improvent from vista which had issues.
Wal Mart is fine for the Dell purchase, can be a problem finding driver files for XP
you could get it from there but it is much better to get it from a computer dealer
tigerdirect .com is much better
