How can you disable the webcam mic on a Dell Inspiron 1525, without shutting off your headset mic?

My friend has a Dell Inspiron 1525, witha built-in webcam, and it has a mic on it..apparently, it is not disabled when she plugs in her mic and headset, and it picks up background noise and amplifies it so loud, we cannot even talk in Skype. She has tried to disable it in Control Panel, but it disabled all her mic functions. Any Advice? How can you disable the webcam mic on a Dell Inspiron 1525, without shutting off your headset mic?option 1

In volume control/Mixer , there is an option to control the microphones.

How many mics do you see there? One or two? If you change the volume of one, do both or only one change?

Check also in menu to show the recording devices - they have different volumes then the playback devices. I am not sure whether skype uses the playback or the recording ones.

option 2

the manual of the dell, to see if tells how to disable. Dell has a quite response support; See link below. I used a few times quite happily.

option 3

Quickfix: put a very small rolled up piece of paper and tape firmly on the hole of the mic. Should do most of the trick, unless it is the HDD....
