Bought a refurbished Windows 2000 Dell Latitude. How do you connect to internet?

I bought a refurbished Dell Latitude windows 2000 for a backup computer. I've been trying to connect to my broadband service, but only find a dial-up modem. Is there a way to connect my new laptop to the internet? I have a little knowledge of the computer. But I have a windows xp new dell for my main computer. Is there a website to find help?
