What is the difference b/w integrated, dedicated 512mb and dedicated 1GB graphics card in Dell laptops?

I want to buy a dell studio laptop with 1GB dedicated graphics card. But these days the website is not providing any option for it. They are giving 512mb dedicated card instead. And how much difference does it makes with integrated graphics card? You'll be able to play the newest games (Starcarft II) for instance but not on highest graphics settings. If you're a regular gamer, then wait for the 1gb. I personally went for the 512mb cause it's cheaper and i'm not into games..
