Dell laptop has pinkish horizontal lines running across the screen?

My father's Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop has a problem with it's screen. It has pink lines running across it horizontally. They kind of flash and are somewhat broken like a fuzzy TV screen (they are not defined lines). I know close to nothing about computers, but I would like to help him find an answer. Does anyone know what this could mean and any possible solutions?Dell laptop has pinkish horizontal lines running across the screen? Are the lines there all the time even during bootup? Or are they only there in Windows? If the lines are apparent only in Windows then I would suggest running Windows update and searching for a new video driver. Also check the device manager to determine what manufacture and model of video card you have. (Press Windows Key + Pause, select the hardware tab and then select device manager, under video adapters see what is listed) Check the manufacture for an updated driver for the video card.

If the video issue is there even during bootup you could have a defective video card or LCD. If a driver update does not solve the issue and the line is showing up during POST (Power On Self Test, before windows is running, just after you start the computer) I would find out if your laptop is still under manufacturer warranty and bring it to the retailer that you bought it from A.S.A.P. They will most likely have to ship it out for repair or my replace it outright. Make sure you back up any valuable data before you let anyone take your computer.

If your laptop is not under warranty you could get an estimate for repair, but you will likely have to by for the shipping, and the repair will probably be a new motherboard + labor. It is likely that the repair cost will be in excess of three hundred dollars.

Good LuckDell laptop has pinkish horizontal lines running across the screen?Nice laptop. The symptom you describe of the colored lines is a common one that requires laptop screen replacement unfortunately to fix. This has happened to me before and I got a new screen from here:

I took it into a repair shop and they wanted to charge me something crazy so I just did it myself. It was so easy. All you need is a screwdriver. Here's a good laptop screen replacement guide:

If the laptop screen works ok with its corner pushed back then you have a screen hardware fault. Not repairable. Only replacement screen will cure it.

Cause: faulty screen or opening/closing the screen from the corner all the time rather than from the middle.

If under warranty get it repaired by dell.Dell laptop has pinkish horizontal lines running across the screen?
if you dont want to pay for the screen replacement you can always sell the laptop online and get cash
