The biggest is the polarization which reduces or eliminates the glare.
The others add the blur effect when the screen is viewed from the side or at a distance.
Some even have an antistatic feature which keeps dust and other office debris off the screen.
It's like buying glasses and we know those are really expensive...
The best way to keep things private is that power switch on the monitor. I turn mine of 10 - 15 times a day depending on who comes in the office.
