I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop. When the computer isn't plugged into the wall and I close and open the laptop the screen resolution automatically changes and I have to manually change it back. Why does this happen and is there a way to change it?Dell computer changes screen resolution when I close the screen? The change is probably being caused by a power setting option. When you close the lid, it is causing the computer to go into a standby or hibernation. When it wakes back up, it is not holding the resolution.
Control Panel %26gt; Power (Options) icon
Go to the Advanced tab
There is an option to tell the computer what to do if you close the lid - change that to "Do nothing" and see if that resolves the issue
If not, you may need to go back to the first tab and play around with the screen timeout settings there.
