Why is my Dell laptop beginning to get a burned mark on the bottom part of screen?

After starting the laptop, Dell Inspiron 600m, there is a part of the screen exactly to the right of the "Dell" logo on the bottom part of the monitor that becomes very very hot, can't even touch it for too long because it's so hot. It happens after about 10 minutes of turning it on. The laptop runs only on AC adapter because it stopped working with the battery. Any help would be appreciated.
