How does the Dell XPS 1530 wireless locator button work?

I got a Dell XPS1530 in '08 and it has the small square wireless locator button on teh right side of it. In commercials I've seen, they advertise this device. When i spoke to dell technicians last time i needed tech support, the tech told me that you dont have to push the button, that it's working if you have wifi access. What, then, is the point of this button??How does the Dell XPS 1530 wireless locator button work?that button is to turn it off and/or toggle through the different wifi networks available in your area...

those devices are designed so that the user, who is considered "dumb" (no offense to you at all), doesn't have to interact with them very much....

i'd heed his advice and just let the device do it's thing....
