I need to ship a large flat object from the US to the UK. I bought my boyfriend (who loves comic books) a Captain America shield out of whim yesterday: it is about 4 to 5 feet across, maybe an inch or an inch an a half thick, and made of a somewhat flimsy plastic that's less durable than a frisbee. I have sent letters and packages there before, but never something big like this. Can i just show up at the post office with it and ask them to package it/buy packaging for it there, or will i need to go to some other store to find something to pack it in? if so, what should i use to package it? thanks for your help :)How to ship a large flat object?
you're probably going to have to buy a box online (office max, staples, etc), as it is a weird size and most stores don't carry odd sizes. since it isn't breakable, you dont need to worry too much about what you pack it with. if you want, you can use recycled newspaper or packing peanuts. How to ship a large flat object?
The only place I can think of offhand that might have a box for this is U-Haul. Their picture/mirror box may work for you. And, yes, you can use it to ship with the USPS.
The USPS wants you to have the package ready to ship when your arrive. You can take it to a UPS Store/Mail Boxes, Etc. and they will package and ship it.
