How do you reboot a DELL Windows XP computer?

My computer is 3 years old and its VERY slow and annoying, so I want to reboot it. Its a DELL dimension E310, and I think I have the CD's for it. Which is better? Rebooting from the CD or pressing F8 when turning on the computer and bringing up the computer repairs screen? Is there a difference? Should I have a professional do it? Or can I do it by myself? Thanks. How do you reboot a DELL Windows XP computer? What you really mean is that you want to refresh your computer to have it working like new. You should follow the advice in this article to get it working as fast as it can http://www.ask-the-computer-doc.com/boos鈥?/a>

If you want to do an XP repair, in general you want to do a repair install and NOT use the repair console.

Detailed instructions for a repair install are here http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairin鈥?/a> He also describes how to create an XP disk with the service pack included easily.

If you can no longer do a repair install or find it too complicated, DO NOT reformat and reinstall as this will wipe you out and leave you with nothing but the operating system. You would have to reinstall all your programs and much of your data would be inaccessible.

Reimage can repair your system even if a repair install fails. It costs a little but it is well worth it to save your data. It takes about 30 minutes and preserves your programs and data. If you are not happy with the results, you don't have to pay and you can reverse any changes that it made. How do you reboot a DELL Windows XP computer?I found you the guidebook for your PC. The link I am providing will ask you to download a .pdf as soon as you click it. When you open the .pdf go to page 11 there are specific windows re-installation steps for a Dell PC with a Dell recovery disk. I have had to use the recovery disk on my dimension 8300 a few times, it takes about an hour but its pretty straight forward. Also with the OEM recovery disk there is no need (most of the time) to put in a key or register windows (its per-registered, and the key is embedded in the PC's BIOS) I hope this helps you some.

(I am sorry about the link that automatically starts the download, I could not find it anywhere else except Dells site)

Put in the installation disc, turn computer off then on again then follow on screen instructions choose repair or new installation. Failing that as it's starting up press F2 then tell it to boot from CD
