Can thor's hammer break captain america's shield?

Alright basically captain america's shield is meant to be the hardest and rarest metal on earth called adamantium which was used to turn wolverine's bones into adamantium in a experiment (weapon X), unbreakable/heat resistance, and cuts through almost anything.

I was wondering if Thor the god of thunder used his hammer, and captain america used his shield to block his hit will the hammer break ?, I got this idea from the avengers trailer because at one scene, it shows thor jumping towards captain america with his hammer, and captain america holding his shield and hiding under it trying to block thor's hit.

Basically the question is which is stronger: a magic metal hammer or an adamatium/vibranium alloy? From everything we've seen, Cap's Sheild is completely indestructible, which isn't surprising considering it was made from a lucky shot when trying to blend the two strongest materials in the Marvelverse. And this would also make it harder to believe it would ever be possible to repair it. So I would never let it break if I were writing. Mjolnir's power all comes from magic, so it's much more plausible to believe it could be repaired. But it's not necesasary that either would break. They might just bounce off.



And yeah, Cap's arm should break, unless he uses the shield in such a way to deflect the blow, which in the scene you describe would not be feasible.Can thor's hammer break captain america's shield?
What happens when an unstoppable force meets and unmovable object? That's what we're asking here. I say that neither would break. Adamantium is pretty much unbreakable, but Thor's hammer is a weapon of the gods. Neither would lose. I beleive the shield would brake because Adamantium is the strongest thing on earth but not the universe and since thors hammer is made from god like material I think it would break
